Environmental Management Policy

Baxter O’Hara Building is a design and construction and project management company based on the Central Coast of NSW, specialising in commercial projects.

We recognise that our activities have the potential to interact with the environment and aim to minimise these interactions by integrating environmental considerations across all aspects of our business.

We also recognise the requirement to comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing protection of the environment.

Sustainable construction practice is an integral part of our business. We will maintain and enhance this by:

• Identifying and complying with environmental laws and regulations;
• Minimising adverse impacts from our activities on the environment, and requiring our sub-contractors to do the same;
• Identifying specific environmental risks that could occur as part of a project and implementing measurable objectives and targets to minimise this risk;
• Requiring each sub-contractor to provide a work method statement documenting consideration of their potential to cause adverse impact on the environment, and methods to minimise this risk;
• Promoting environmental awareness throughout our Company and our sub-contractors through regular training;
• Requiring each person working on a project to be informed of and aware of their role in relation to environmental protection, and methods to reduce environmental risk;
• Identifying best practice environmental management procedures where possible to set an example to other Companies in our sphere of influence; and
• Promoting waste, water and energy reduction measures to our customers during the design and construction phases.
• Implement site specific Environmental Management Plans.

We require our management, staff and sub-contractors to comply with this Environmental Policy, and will provide adequate resources to implement, maintain, review and improve this Policy on a regular basis

Occupational Health and Safety Policy

The directors and senior management of Baxter O’Hara Building recognize the importance of providing all employees, visitors and contractors with a safe and healthy work environment.

Our goal is to prevent all occupational injuries and illness. The company will seek to achieve this by:

• Identifying and reducing the risks of all types of work activities that have the potential to produce personal injury or occupational illness.
• Providing instruction, training and supervision to improve individual’s understanding of workplace hazards, including safe work practices and emergency procedures.
• Involving individuals in Occupational Health and Safety matters and consulting with them on ways to recognize, evaluate and control workplace hazards.
• Ensuring that everyone (including visitors and contractors) complies with appropriate standards and workplace directions to protect their own and others health and safety at work.
• Providing adequate systems and resources to effectively manage rehabilitation and return to work processes.

The company will implement and maintain an ongoing Occupational Health and Safety program, including:

1. Conducting regular inspections of the workplace aimed at preventing accidents and incidents; and
2. Conducting a Tool Box Meeting every 2 months to discuss safety and gather feedback from employees.

All employees have a responsibility to take care for the health and safety of themselves and others and to comply with company occupational health and safety policy and procedures.

Quality Management Policy

The primary objective of Baxter O’Hara Building is to maintain a leading position in the design and construction of residential, commercial and industrial buildings, property development and project management.

Understanding our customer needs and expectations and providing products and services that consistently meet those needs and expectations whilst complying with statutory and regulatory requirements will achieve this primary objective.

Associated with this objective is the recognition that our customers expect these products and services to be supplied to acceptable levels of quality, at a competitive price and within an agreed time period.

To ensure these requirements are achieved the company is committed to the development, implementation and maintenance of a Business Management System that, as a minimum, meets the requirements of the internationally recognised Quality Management standard, AS/NZS ISO9001:2008.

An effective Business Management System will ensure that:

• we understand our client’s needs,
• we consult with clients to develop their needs,
• high standards of product quality are maintained,
• we train employees to be effective in their processes,
• we establish and maintain standards,
• we establish and maintain a continual improvement work environment,
